[Terrell Owens] Biography

Terrell Owens is a former American football wide receiver, currently playing for Fan Controlled Football's team, the Knights of Degen. He has previously played for 15 seasons in the National Football League and holds the third-place rank for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in NFL history. Starting out his career with the San Francisco 49ers, Owens was later traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys, the Buffalo Bills, and the Cincinnati Bengals. He has been a six-time Pro Bowl selection and a five-time first-team All-Pro selection. Owens was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018 after becoming eligible in his third year.

Terrell Owens was born in Alexander City, Alabama to Marilyn Heard and her neighbor L.C. Russell, although he didn't discover his father's identity until he was 10 years old, only to discover his daughter was his sister. He was raised by his mother and grandmother and had three other siblings. Owens loved watching football, with his favorite player being Jerry Rice, but his grandmother prohibited him from playing sports until he reached high school. When he attended Benjamin Russell High School, he participated in football, baseball, track, and basketball, although he didn't start on the football team until his junior year when one of his teammates was ill.

During his time at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Terrell Owens participated in basketball, football, and track. He started during his sophomore year and was invited to the 1995 NCAA basketball tournament. He had 38 receptions for 724 yards and 8 touchdowns that year, and 34 receptions for 357 yards and 3 touchdowns during his junior year. As his reputation grew, Owens was often double-teamed during his senior year and was limited to 43 receptions for 667 yards and one touchdown. He formerly held the single-season receptions record at Chattanooga until 2007, when it was broken by Alonzo Nix. He also anchored the school's 4 × 100 relay team at the NCAA championship and took part in the Senior Bowl, a college all-star game in preparation for the NFL Draft.
